Best time to visit Peru

Peru has no single "best" season — it splits into three climates that peak at different times: the Andean highlands (Cusco, Puno, Colca) are driest May–September, the desert coast (Lima, Paracas, Nazca) is sunniest December–April, and the Amazon is easiest in the May–October dry months. Tell us your priority for the ideal window.

Build a tailored, printable checklist for your season and the regions you'll visit. Peru spans high Andes (cold nights, fierce sun), humid Amazon, dry desert coast and tropical northern beaches — so what you pack depends on where you go.

Altitude acclimatisation planner

Peru’s high destinations — Cusco (3,400 m), Puno & Lake Titicaca (3,800 m), Colca, Huaraz and Rainbow Mountain (5,000 m+) — give many people soroche (altitude sickness). This builds a safe day-by-day acclimatisation schedule around your arrival.
